Can Vulcan mold silicone over ABS or PC?+
Yes. Vulcan has manufactured silicone overmolds on ABS and polycarbonate. We review the exact substrate grade, geometry, bonding requirement and process conditions for each new project.
How are application-specific requirements reviewed?+
Provide the intended use, target market and required material declarations or testing. The material, process and validation plan are reviewed for the specific component before production approval.
How is LSR different from conventional rubber molding?+
LSR uses a two-component liquid material and a specialized metering, mixing and injection process. Tooling, thermal control, flash management and cure behavior require LSR-specific design judgment.
Can Vulcan help choose silicone hardness?+
Vulcan can help translate product requirements into a material-selection path. Final selection should follow supplier data, geometry, application tests and any regulatory or customer requirements.
Is Vulcan a silicone manufacturer or silicone producer?+
Vulcan manufactures molded silicone components in Mexico through silicone injection molding, liquid silicone rubber molding and related silicone rubber processes. Vulcan does not produce raw silicone polymers; qualified material suppliers provide the silicone grades that are validated for each application.
Can files be reviewed under NDA?+
Yes. A customer can electronically sign Vulcan’s mutual NDA, upload their company NDA for review, or proceed without a separate NDA before uploading common drawing and 3D formats.
